April 7, 2008SAINT JOHN (CNB) - Efficiency New Brunswick will launch a mass media energy efficiency awareness campaign today with commercials featuring Dr. David Suzuki, co-founder of the David Suzuki Foundation, and award-winning scientist, environmentalist and broadcaster.
The campaign, featuring TV commercials and online advertisements, promotes an energy efficiency awareness message and advises New Brunswickers of the assistance available through programs and services offered by Efficiency NB to assist in reducing energy use. Efficiency NB offers provincial residents the most comprehensive suite of residential energy efficiency programs available in Canada.
David Suzuki expressed support for the awareness campaign. "I am delighted that the ads are being aired in New Brunswick, and I commend Efficiency NB for sharing the message," he said. "It is easy for each of us to begin making better energy choices. That's what it's all about: one by one, we will make a difference."
Energy Minister Jack Keir noted that Efficiency New Brunswick is able to bring these high quality productions to New Brunswick due to the collaboration and co-operation with the Ontario Ministry of Energy. "I am also very pleased that as a result of Efficiency NB's initiative, these commercials will be aired for the first time in Canada on francophone media outlets," he said.
"We genuinely appreciate Dr. Suzuki's generous support of our work at Efficiency NB," Efficiency NB president and CEO Elizabeth Weir said. "More and more, we are finding that people are asking what they can do to cut energy use and combat global warming. Making the most efficient use of the energy we consume, either in the home or at work, is something everyone can do and makes a measurable difference in reducing energy costs and greenhouse gas emissions."
Suzuki volunteered to appear in these commercials at no charge to promote the message of energy efficiency to Ontario, and now Efficiency NB is sharing this message with New Brunswickers.
Efficiency NB offers sound advice and practical solutions through a comprehensive suite of residential, commercial and industrial programs aimed at reducing energy consumption in New Brunswick.
